Can you truly be ready for the next step to improve your life whether that be position change, job promotion, grade advancement, etc. Can you be ready or is it actually that you need to be willing. I land somewhere in the middle. I ask myself the question, how can you be truly ready if you have never been there before? How do you magically gain the experiences of those before you without having put in the time? You don’t, but what you do is learn as much as you can. Ask questions from everyone that is or was where you would like to be. Is it because you were willing to step out of your comfort zone and ask the tough questions?
How do you become ready? Gain as many experiences you can, and in the end you need to be flexible to do things to succeed at gaining the experiences. The experiences you want will not come on your timing. Are you willing to sacrifice for what you want? You will not know for sure until the day comes when you are pulled from something that is important to you to gain a valuable experience that will help you in the future. Is it because you were willing to work?
When the day comes and it is time to “move up the ladder” so to speak will it be because you were ready or because you were willing? I think it is because you were willing. In the end being willing is why others see you as ready. So don’t wait. It takes lots of willingness to gain the readiness of others. Be willing now so you can be ready tomorrow!
